River Gallo is an intersex rights activist, filmmaker, writer, actor, and model. Their film Ponyboi adapted from their short film of the same name premiered at Sundance Film Festival to rave reviews. The film's director was nominated for a Grand Jury Prize at the festival. Their story is so amazing and I'm glad to share it with you today!

Sylvia Rivera was much more than stonewall. She had a long life filled with advocacy and love and white hot fury. Her anger and passion had her involved in the movement for gay rights and trans/drag visibility. Her legacy is one that will go down in history!

Brooklyn Liberation in 2020 was one of the largest protest actions for trans rights in history. In response to the killings of Layleen Polanco, Tony McDade, Nina Pop, Riah Milton, Dominique "Rem'Mie" Fells, Muhlaysia Booker, Chanel Scurlock, and many more, Brooklyn Liberation is the day we heard Ms. Raquel willis proclaim for everyone watching to never doubt Trans Power.

Lou Sullivan was a gay trans man who was refused medical transition by the establishment because of his gay identity. Only after receiving proper medical Gender Affirmation Surgery, got diagnosed as Living with HIV. His diagnosis made history as he became the first Trans man to be diagnosed with the virus.

Wendy Carlos is today’s #30DaysofPride and the reason for the innovation of the Synthesizer and produced a track for A clockwork Organge, the title theme for The Shining and the soundtrack for the Disney film Tron.

James Patrick Zappalorti, a disabled veteran of the Vietnam War, was the victim of a highly publicized, fatal gay-bashing attack on Staten Island, New York. The murder led to increased efforts to pass a statewide hate crime law, which was ultimately enacted in 2000. The corner of Kreischer St. and Androvette was renamed Jimmy Zappalorti Lane at a ceremony in 2023
